Aspects of the reproductive biology of Brassavola cebolleta Rchb.f. (Orchidaceae) - doi: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v32i4.7148 Biological Sciences
Rech, André Rodrigo; Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia; Rosa, Yara Brito Chaim Jardim; Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados; Manente-Balestieri, Fátima Cristina de Lazari; Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados.
This survey assessed some aspects of the reproductive biology of Brassavola cebolleta Rchb. f. (Orchidaceae) in the Municipality of Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Floral biology, breeding systems, floral visitors and seed germination were analyzed. Differential success and fruit production rate were calculated. Pollination system indicated the pollen vector dependence and absence of pre-zygotic barriers related to self-incompatibility. Pollination occurred at night, being the potential pollen vector a Lepidoptera-Notodontidae of the genus Hemiceras. Differential success of male was 19%, female 9%, and the rate of effective fructification was 6.3%. Fruits produced after pollinator visits were larger than those generated by manual cross...

Phenology of Campomanesia adamantium (Cambess.) O. Berg in Brazilian Cerrado Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Leão-Araújo,Érica Fernandes; Souza,Eli Regina Barboza de; Naves,Ronaldo Veloso; Peixoto,Nei.
Abstract Campomanesia adamantium is a fruit tree native to Cerrado and important for human consumption as food, herbal medicine and even in the beverage industry. The aim of this study was to evaluate the vegetative and reproductive phenology of C. adamantium plants in the region of Ipameri-GO, the synchronization of phenophases and the correlation with climatic data. Rainfall, relative humidity, average, maximum and minimum temperature, as well as sprouting, flowering and fruiting data of C. adamantium plants were collected between September and December of 2016 and 2017. Graphs were plotted for climatological data and phenological phases. Phenophase synchrony analysis and correlation of these phases with the climate of the region were performed....

Production of Flammulina velutipes on coffee husk and coffee spent-ground BABT
Leifa,Fan; Pandey,Ashok; Soccol,Carlos R..
Solid state cultivation (SSC) was carried out to evaluate the feasibility of using coffee husk and spent-ground as substrates for the production of edible mushroom Flammulina under different conditions of moisture and spawn rate. The strain of F. velutipes LPB 01 was adapted for a coffee husk extract medium. Best results were obtained with 25% spawn rate, though there was not much difference when lower spawn rates (10-20%) were used. Ideal moisture content for mycelial growth was 60% and 55% for coffee husk and spent-ground, respectively. With coffee husk as substrate, first fructification occurred after 25 days of inoculation and the biological efficiency reached about 56% with two flushes after 40 days. With spent-ground as substrate, first...

STIGMATIC RECEPTIVITY AND POLLEN VIABILITY OF Theobroma subincanum Mart.:FRUIT SPECIES FROM THE AMAZON REGION Rev. Bras. Frutic.
ARENAS-DE-SOUZA,MAICON DOUGLAS; ROSSI,ANA APARECIDA BANDINI; VARELLA,TATIANE LEMOS; SILVEIRA,GREICIELE FARIAS DA; SOUZA,SÉRGIO ALESSANDRO MACHADO.
ABSTRACT Theobroma subincanum (cupuí) is a fruit species native to the Amazon region. Fruits are enjoyed by local people and consumed both as fresh fruit such as juice, nectar or soft drinks. Reproductive biology studies provide contributions to conservation strategies and plant improvement. The present study aimed to analyze the stigmatic receptivity and pollen viability of T. subincanum. This study was developed in a forest fragment located in the urban perimeter of the municipality of Alta Floresta, MT. In the flowering period, flower buds or flowers were collected in seven different times, as follows: 10 pm, 02 am, 06 am, 10 am, 2 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm. Pollen viability was estimated by reactive Alexander (1969) and stigmatic receptivity using 3%...
